Periwinkle Way and Gulf Drive are the two main roads running down the length of the island which opens up the open for a rental car. However, Biking and walking may be the best option. You can also take a bus, boat, or hiking tour around different areas of the island.

When flying into Sanibel Island, the easiest airport to fly into is in Fort Myers, Florida. The Fort Myers Airport is situated between Naple and Tampa is located about 20 miles away from the central Sanibel Island.
