About DVC Home Resort
When you purchase a DVC timeshare, you are actually purchasing a real estate interest at a home resort. Home resorts are often selected based on the resort you feel you are likely to visit most often, as owners can reserve time at their home resort during a priority booking window before reservations open to other DVC members each year.
DVC home resorts also determine the year in which your DVC membership will expire. While the expiration date is always January 31st, the year varies depending on your home resort and how you purchased your DVC timeshare (retail or resale).
About DVC Use Year
When you become a DVC member, you are allotted a set number of points that are redeemable within a given use year. DVC use years only start in February, March, April, June, August, September, October, and December.
If you have a February use year, this means that your 12-month period to use DVC points begins in February. Although your DVC use year cannot be changed, this has little impact on your membership. It only affects you in terms of planning vacations and making DVC reservations—any use year can be as advantageous as the next.
