The Resort at Diamante is a recently-built residence club with an ocean-view, just minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas. It boasts a full spectrum of one-week memberships to fully-owned estates that can house multiple families in your clan.
The Where: Diamante is the perfect vacation for those who are seeking to leave the crowds back home. Situated 9 miles to the west from the Cabo San Lucas Marina, the resort offers shuttle rides into town for around $30 for a change of pace. Although Diamante offers great food, both the Hard Rock or Nobu restaurants at their respective hotels (just recently built within 2 miles of Diamante), provide other culinary options within minutes. But why pay to stay in their hotels when you can stay at Diamante for only $1000 for an entire week.
Along the secluded coastline of Cabo San Lucas, you’ll find two of the most spectacular golf courses in the world--the Top 100 Dunes Course, ranked as high as #36 in the world by Golf Magazine, was designed by Davis Love III, and El Cardonal by Tiger Woods--along with a TGR Design par-three Oasis Short Course, as well as a golf academy for those wishing to improve their game. But don't take my word for it, go to https://diamantecabosanlucas.com/ and see for yourself!
Diamante’s Dunes Course, weaves its way through spectacular Pacific dunes and boasts amazing beach and ocean views from nearly every hole. Add an awe-inspiring 14-acre practice facility, clubhouse, restaurants and bars, retail center, on-course comfort stations every three holes, and Diamante’s signature service--and you have an unforgettable golf experience.
The What: After spending some time in the town with the plethora of vendors attempting to get you to spend your money on fishing trips, adventure sports, or spa treatments, you will be glad to get back to a tranquil resort overlooking the Pacific Ocean--no horns, no traffic, no crowds-- even at the beaches. It's kind of like golfing--without a club or ball.
The resort offers a tropical environment with family-friendly activities: swim, stand-up paddleboard, kayak, or relax poolside. Guests have access to amenities in the complex including a championship golf course, fitness club, tennis courts, lap pool, spa, gourmet restaurants, sports bar, and 24-hour member services.
The 1700-square foot Executive Suite units at the Resort at Diamante around its 10-acre lagoon, offer spacious room for a family of four, and the adjoining 1-bedroom Studio units enable you to expand your party to 8 and conveniently share the dining room table in the Executive Suite. As you enjoy the elegance of marble flooring throughout the suite, you can take advantage of a full kitchen and even request grocery items from an extensive list that Diamante will purchase and stock in your refrigerator and cupboards on your behalf prior to your arrival.
The Why?: I hate to admit it, but I suffered through a four-hour sales presentation--so you wouldn’t have to. I haggled several sales reps down to a 50-year biennial Right-to-Use membership agreement for $10,500, which is paid in full. Unfortunately, Covid lockdowns, my mother-in-law moving into her granny quarters with us, and my son-in-law (a former college golfer and current tournament winner) not wanting to schlep his family all the way to Cabo when he can hang out all summer at his family’s cabin in Lake Tahoe--all changed my thinking about needing a resort with four golf courses--especially because I don’t play golf myself. (Besides, as I turn 71, I would like to visit other places in the world I have never been--like Italy with my full-blooded Italian wife.)
So, I am offering my Diamante Executive Suite membership at a bargain-basement price of $3,950--definitely priced to sell before the holiday season, which means that I won’t have to pay the biennial maintenance fee of $995 in January. I have even paid the sales commission to this agency which will be handling the transaction, and they in turn will pay the title fee (normally paid by the buyer). I encourage you to compare my price with other comparable Executive Suites at The Resort at Diamante listed on this website.
The How:(aka, understanding Mexico’s legalese contract language)
Let me help you count the cost to effectively enjoy this membership. The “Right to Use” one’s membership means that the member has a right to stay at Diamante on odd years for one week (7 nights) by paying the maintenance fee ($995 for 2025). Compare this to spending $300-750 a night for a classy golf resort and spa in Cabo.
This membership extends for 50 years minus the two years that I have already used and consequently expiring in 2066. Not only can it be used anytime during weeks 15 through 45 of the calendar year (Spring-Summer-Fall Season) in the odd years, but you can “accelerate” future weeks into an even year by paying the maintenance fee for the week reserved within 60 days of your stay.
Furthermore, the member must only pay the maintenance fee a minimum of once every 4 years with a biennial contract. (eg. If you reserve a week in 2025, and naturally skip the even year, 2026, then you could “surrender” the following odd year of 2027, and skip the next even year, 2028, so that your next maintenance fee would not be required until 2029.) In other words, you only pay the maintenance fee in the odd years when you actually will be using it, or when you are accelerating a future week into an odd or even year, and you may even waive the right to use an odd year once every four years. So if you have other trips planned—like joining me in Italy, for instance--you don’t necessarily have to worry about paying for 3 years in a row.
Now for some more good news! TAFER Hotels & Resorts, celebrated for its collection of award-winning hotels, luxury resorts, and boutique villas across Mexico and the Caribbean’s most coveted beach destinations, just announced a partnership with Diamante. This will allow current owners the option of extending their access to other high-quality resorts in TAFER’s portfolio. Here’s a link to the TAFER press release.
I suggest you go online to check out Diamante’s website at https://diamantecabosanlucas.com/. Give them a call and ask them what they would sell their Executive Suite at The Resort at Diamante for with a biennial SSF-season 50-year membership. Then, for more information, or to make an offer, you may make an offer before someone else scoops up this deal prior to Nov. 15th--when I must make the decision to take it off the market and use it myself for next year.
