Ireland Vacations Await: US Travelers Can Soon Visit Without COVID Test

After a tough year and a big travel drought, it’s wonderful to start getting more news about countries opening up for US citizens to visit and enjoy once again. Today, you can start getting excited about Ireland vacations in your future as the country will officially be allowing visitors from the US starting July 19, 2021.

Start packing your bags because Ireland travel restrictions are being lifted. Fully vaccinated travelers will be able to skip the COVID-19 tests and previous quarantine requirements when going to visit Ireland. Additionally, those who have a negative COVID test (taken within 72 hours) or have previously recovered from COVID are also able to travel to Ireland.

The Digital COVID-19 Certificate

The European Union recently rolled out a digital COVID-19 certificate for the above-mentioned eligible travelers. This digital app creates a specialized QR code so there is no need to travel with paperwork.

As it now stands, countries can choose to accept this digital certificate or not, but it will officially be enforced across Europe for local travelers. Whether or not US citizens will be allowed is up to the individual country. The government commented on the updated Ireland travel restrictions:

“From 19 July, Ireland will also broadly align itself to the EU approach to non-essential travel into the EU from third countries […] The approach to travel outside the EU/EEA will also apply to travel to and from Great Britain and the US.”

Additionally, restaurants and bars in Ireland will allow for indoor dining once again starting on July 5th.
