Disney’s Riviera Resort Updates

Everyone is very excited about the opening of Disney’s Riviera Resort, the 15th Disney Vacation Club resort. We’ve posted about construction updates after the resort was announced back in 2017. The property started accepting reservations for December of this year, and more details are being released every day.

Some of the latest updates include announcements about the accommodation layouts and some amenities that will be featured on-site.

Disney’s Riviera Resort Accommodations

Disney Vacation Club is getting closer to starting sales at Disney’s Riviera Resort, and have announced the number of accommodations that will be available to prospective timeshare owners. The first declaration includes villas to be added into the timeshare association, including accommodations on the 5th floor and the westernmost wing of the 6th and 7th floors. These layouts include:

• 9 two-person tower studio villas
• 8 dedicated deluxe studio villas
• 7 dedicated one bedroom villas
• 18 dedicated two bedroom villas
• 23 lock-off two bedroom villas
• 4 three bedroom grand villas

When the club starts accepting reservations at the resort, owners will be able to utilize their points to book a maximum of 18 dedicated two bedroom villas per night, 9 tower studios, and so forth. The remaining 300 rooms of the resort are not immediately part of the timeshare association and can’t be booked using points.

DVC owners will not be restricted to those sections of Disney’s Riviera Resort. Staff have the ability to place owners in any available resort villa that matches their reservation type.

As far as DVC points go, the “maximum reallocation” values have been determined to give us an annualized average point cost. The values for Disney’s Riviera Resort are:

• Tower studio – 15 points
• Deluxe studio, standard view – 20 points
• Deluxe studio, preferred view – 24 points
• One bedroom, standard view – 40 points
• One bedroom, preferred view – 47 points
• Two bedroom, standard view – 54 points
• Two bedroom, preferred view – 65 points
• Grand villa – 134 points

These values are not exact minimums or maximums, but give a generalized idea of what can be expected.

Another aspect worth noting is that buyers will be able to purchase Guaranteed Week contracts for Disney’s Riviera Resort. This allows the buyer to lock in a specific week for their annual vacation. They are usually required to purchase 10% more points than indicated by the points chart in exchange for a commitment that the points will be used to book the specific room and week until the end of the contract.

Disclaimer: There are resale restrictions that don’t allow current DVC resale owners to make reservations at any new Disney resorts, including Disney’s Riviera Resort. When these new DVC resorts become available for resale, owners who buy on the secondary market will not have access to the 14 original DVC resorts. Disney’s Riviera Resort Amenities

Recently, some of the desirable amenities that will reside on the Disney’s Riviera Resort campus have been announced, including:

• The S’il Vous Play kid’s area with a splash pad, fountain, and Disney’s “Fantasia” characters
• A movie lawn area for watching Disney films poolside
• Beau Soleil leisure pool, a more secluded lounging and swimming area
• Bar Riva, an open-air pool bar
• Waterfront promenade for walking and taking in views of the resort’s European-inspired landscapes
• Access to Disney Skyliner gondola station, that will take you to Epcot International Gateway or Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and on to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios
