A new trend is taking hold in the vacation ownership industry. Luxury train vacation timeshares are becoming increasingly popular, as travelers prefer more diverse vacation solutions. One-upping flexible and modern vacation club memberships that offer different lodging solutions, these new train timeshares are offering a product all of their own. With “trainshare” solutions coming by the end of the year, vacation ownership aficionados will have another option to consider for their yearly trips. So, what do you say—are you ready to trade in that villa or condo overlooking the ocean for your own train car?
Train vacation ownerships are the brainchild of America’s Trains Inc., an operator of luxury trains traveling across the U.S. Their popular all-inclusive journeys on passenger railroad cars will be offered in timeshare form by the end of 2017. Here’s how it works:
Train vacations will take the form of seven-night journeys throughout the U.S. and Canada. Trainshare owners will be able to live in their own luxury passenger car, which is dropped off for extended layovers at predetermined destinations along their route for off-track adventuring. Owners can choose between sleeper cars with access to dining and lounge cars and private cars that are entirely self-sufficient. The first of its kind, America’s Trains rail timeshares will provide an incredibly unique vacation experience.
Train vacation timeshares will be sold through fixed weeks on certain train sets. Owners will have rights to annual or biennial vacations in their desired unit type—stays within the train will also be all-inclusive. Owners can also have floating weeks on their train, allowing them to mix-and-match different car types and routes for new experiences. A trainshare buyer also purchases rights to railcar assets.
Trainshares are offered on a 10-year initial or perpetual term, with the ability to convert initial terms into perpetuity. Owners will also pay maintenance fees toward their ownership, which will cover repairs and administrative costs. However, you won’t have to pay your maintenance fees if you don’t use your train timeshare—a major perk that’s worth giving train vacations a closer look. Interested buyers can also explore 1/12th, 1/8th, and 1/6th fractional ownership agreements, offering an alternative.
America’s Trains Inc., is also affiliated with RCI and The Registry Collection, offering the same exchange options a traditional timeshare owner might have. While routes have yet to be determined, the trainshares are expected to cater to travel interests of all types, including golf, skiing, beaches, and more. Typical accommodations include multi-room units with queen size beds and convertible lounge chairs. All bedrooms will feature private en-suite bathrooms that can also function as living areas.
Train vacation ownerships won’t be available until later this year, so you’ll have to wait to explore timeshare opportunities. However, you can browse other unique ownership opportunities through our timeshare resales. Browse online and submit offers today!
